Stock depletion of yellowfin tuna Thunnus albacares (Bonnaterre 1788) in the Northeastern Indian Ocean

چکیده

The stock of yellowfin tuna ( Thunnus albacares ) has been in a declining trend the last five years. Although noticeable decline mainly occurred western part Indian Ocean, uncertainty lingers on how this phenomenon will affect opposite leg. study aimed to investigate dynamics through monitoring several indicators by utilizing logbooks, scientific port sampling, and observer data available. result showed that both relative abundance estimated catch are recent years, sign negative global inclination also influences Indonesian longline fisheries. Further studies needed understand whether impacts other gears. Hence, mitigation conserving resource reducing strengthening collection should be priority maintain livelihood welfare many coastal communities.

Quality assessment of filtered smoked yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) steaks.

UNLABELLED Filtered smoke (FS) has been used to preserve taste, texture, and/or color in tuna and other fish species. This treatment is particularly important in color preservation during frozen storage. The objective of this study was to compare changes in the quality profiles of FS-treated and untreated (UT) yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) steaks stored in 3 ways: room temperature (21 to 2...

Deep diving behavior observed in yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares)

Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) are known to preferentially occupy the surface mixed layer above the thermocline and it has been suggested that they are physiologically restricted to water temperatures no more than 8 ◦C colder than surface waters. However, we here report for dive data acquired from a large yellowfin tuna which demonstrate for the first time that this species is indeed capabl...

Research Article: Length-based fishery status of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares Bonnaterre, 1788) in the northern waters of the Oman Sea

In the present study, population characteristics of Thunnus albacares were evaluated by sampling at five fish landing sites in the northern Oman Sea including Beris, Ramin, Pozm, Konarak and Jask from March 2017 to March 2018. The biometric analysis was performed on more than twenty-six thousand fish. Population dynamic parameters were calculated including infinite length (L∞=171 cm), growth co...

Accounting for Age Uncertainty in Growth Modeling, the Case Study of Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares) of the Indian Ocean

Age estimates, typically determined by counting periodic growth increments in calcified structures of vertebrates, are the basis of population dynamics models used for managing exploited or threatened species. In fisheries research, the use of otolith growth rings as an indicator of fish age has increased considerably in recent decades. However, otolith readings include various sources of uncer...

Influence of oceanographic variability on recruitment of yellowfin tuna Thunnus albacares in the western and central Pacific Ocean

Recruitment estimates for yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) in the western and central Pacific Ocean (WCPO), derived from a stock assessment model, are highly variable seasonally, interannually, and over decadal periods. A generalized linear model (GLM) was developed that predicts the variation in yellowfin tuna recruitment in response to a range of oceanographic variables. The GLM model accou...
